A person who is an adult can be described as a human being or any other animal that is at complete growth.The biological meaning of the term is animals that have reached sexual maturity, and therefore capable of reproducing. The term "adult" is often used in the context of humans to mean social and legal concepts. As opposed to someone not considered an adult or "minor" an legal adult is a person who has reached the age of majority that makes them independent competent, responsible, and capable. A legal adult can be called a major. 18.18 is the norm for legal age for adulthood, although this may vary based on the country of origin and status in law, as well mental maturity.

If a person attains full physical and intellectual maturity, it is referred to as adulthood. Adulthood is commonly considered to begin at the age of 20 or 21. After middle age (starting about 40 years old), comes old age (around the age of 60). The three major stages of adulthood are the early years (from mid-30s to late-60s) and middle adulthood, from the mid-30s through late-60s, and finally adulthood (mid-60s through the time of death). In the early years of adulthood we have reached its physical maturity to the maximum. But, the size and weight may grow. As we enter the first years of our lives, we're physically peaking. Strength of muscles, reaction time, sensory ability, and cardiac function all reach their highest levels.
